Essence of China

Ancient cultures and modern miracles in nine shorts days. The mysteries of The Great Wall, The Forbidden City and the Entombed Warriors are there to be discovered along side the amazing New China in Shanghai and Beijing.

 

Day 1 Beijing

On arrival, CITS guide will hold a welcome sign to meet you. You will be transferred to the well-located hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax.


Day 2 Beijing
Morning:

Take a half-day excursion to explore the incredible Forbidden City with its grand palaces and courtyards. Built in 1420, it was here that 24 emperors lived and ruled for over 500 years. The South Gate leads you to Tian'anmen Square - the biggest of its kind in the world.

Afternoon:

Continue to the beautiful Summer Palace where you can discover gardens, palaces and pavilions with temples and halls in a tranquil, landscaped lakeside setting.

Evening:

After dinner you will enjoy a fascinating Peking Opera Show in the front zone at the Liyuan Theatre. (B+L+D)


Day 3 Beijing
Morning:

You will take a half-day guided visit to the awesome Great Wall of China. Here you can enjoy the stunning views as you stroll along this seemingly endless piece of history, which winds its way into the far distance.

Afternoon:

Continue to the Ming Tomb, which due to their enormity took over 200 years to complete. And walk along the Sacred Way, which means the road leading to heaven.

Evening:

Dinner is served at the original, century-old Quanjude Roasted Duck Restaurant.

Day 4 Beijing to Xi'an
Morning:

Explore the Temple of Heaven which itself has become a symbol of the city. Here ancient emperor worshipped God and prayed for harvest. Lunch is included today. Transfer to the airport for your flight to Xi'an, China's ancient capital.

Afternoon:

Upon arrival, transfer to the Hotel for 2 nights. (B+L+D)


Day 5 Xi'an
Morning:

Full day visit the world-famous Terracotta Warriors where life-sized infantrymen, archer, officers and their horses symbolically guard the tomb of the first Qin emperor.

Afternoon:

Followed by the dramatic Wild Goose Pagoda.

Evening:

You will be entertained with the marvelous Tang Dynasty Dinner Show. (B+L+D)


Day 6 Xi'an to Shanghai
Morning:

Visit the City Wall that still compasses the center of Xi'an.

Afternoon:

Transfer and take the flight to Shanghai. You will pass through the old town and take a walk along the famous waterfront to fully appreciate this diverse city.

Day 7 Shanghai
Morning:

Visit the Shanghai Museum with its collection of ancient Chinese Art of bronze, ceramics, painting and calligraphy.

Afternoon:

Continue the Yu Garden, which has over 30 pavilions, linked by a maze of corridors and bridges. And Jade Buddha Temple where two rare jade statues of Sakyamuni Buddha is treasured.

Evening:

Enjoy an acrobatic show at the Portman Ritz-Carlton Hotel for your entertainment after dinner. (B+L+D)


Day 8 Shanghai

Transfer to the airport for your homeland. Alternatively, extend your stay. (B)
