Shanghai-Guilin-Xi'an-Datong-Beijing (12 days)

Guilin is situated along the Lijiang River, which is a favorite travel attraction in itself. The beauty of the water and the karst peaks towering into the sky has attracted travelers to this area for centuries.

Famous for its wonderful scenery, rivers and karst peaks covered in lush greenery, Guilin has a long history as the most beautiful place in China. Established in the Qin Dynasty as a regional power base for the first emperor of China, Guilin's population exploded to around a million during the 1930s.

It is by no means necessary to make additional acclaim to Guilin--the attractions here speak for themselves. Asked which of China's natural scenery is the best to visit, a vast majority of mainlander's are sure to point to the beautiful karst scenery of the Guilin area, as the ancient Chinese saying goes: Guilin's attractions top the world.

Day 1 Shanghai

On arrival, CITS guide will meet you at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Take a walk along the famous waterfront, the Bund, to fully appreciate this diverse city.


Day 2 Shanghai
Morning:

Visit to the Yu Garden, which is a famous Chinese classic garden.And enjoy in the ancient city of Shanghai.

Afternoon:

Visit the Shanghai Museum with its collection of ancient Chinese ArtWork. And explore to the Jade Buddha Temple where two rare jade statues of Sakyamuni Buddha is treasured. (B+L)


Day 3 Shanghai

Full day free on your own activities.   (B)


Day 4 Shanghai to Guilin
Morning:

Transfer to take the flight to Guilin. Meet the guide at the airport and transfer to the hotel.

Afternoon:

Meet the guide and visit historic Fubo Hill. And visit The Reed Flute Cave- a 790 feet deep dripstone cave which includes myriads of stalactites and stalagmites of dazzling colors. (B+L)

Day 5 Guilin

Take a scenic river cruise along the Li River. Lunch is included on board before arriving at Yangshuo where you have free time to explore the local markets. Explore to Yangshuo. . (B+L)


Day 6 Guilin to Xi'an
Morning:

Transfer to take the flight to Xian. Meet the guide at the airport and transfer to the hotel.

Afternoon:

Visit the Great Mosque, which is one of the oldest and best-preserved Islamic mosques. And visit the Muslim Snack Street which is a famous snack street and near the Drum Tower. (B+L)


Day 7 Xi'an to Datong
Morning:

Explore the Terracotta Warriors which can't be missed by your visit to China .

Afternoon:

Followed by the Wild Goose Pagoda, which is one of the remaining symbols of Xi'an. (B+L)


Day 8 Datong
Morning:

Have a visit of Yungang Grotto, the oldest one of the three major cave clusters in China. And visit the Datong Nine Dragon Screen, is presently the oldest and largest glazed screen.

Afternoon:

Visit The Huayan Monastery complex (including two separate sections to the monastery, the upper one and the lower one) which is the largest and best preserved monastery of the Liao Dynasty in existence in China. (B+L)


Day 9 Datong to Beijing
Morning:

Transfer to take the train to Beijing. On arrival, guide will meet you at the railway station and transfer to the hotel.

Afternoon:

Explore the Temple of Heaven, where ancient emperor worshipped God and prayed for harvest. (B)


Day 10 Beijing
Morning:

Take a half-day tour to the Forbidden City that 24 emperors lived and ruled for over 500 years. The South Gate leads you to Tian'anmen Square- the biggest central square in the world.

Afternoon:

Visit the famous imperial garden- Summer Palace. (B+L)


Day 11 Beijing
Morning:

Take a half-day guided visit to the awesome Great Wall of China.

Afternoon:

Continue to the Ming Tomb, the mausoleums of Emperors of the Ming Dynasty. And walk along the Sacred Way, which means the road leading to heaven. (B+L)


Day 12 Beijing

Transfer to take the departure flight, or alternatively extend your stay. (B)
