Picturesque of Sichuan - 6Days / 5Nights
Say the name “Sichuan” and it will undoubtedly conjure up images of giant pandas, spicy Sichuan cuisine, and a relaxing lifestyle. The province has a population of 80 Million inhabitants and is located in a fertile valley basin surrounded by lush mountains making it an important agricultural base of China. The landscape in the less populated mountainous areas in Northern Sichuan is renowned for its natural beautiful. So much in fact that the nature reserves of Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong are listed by UNESCO as "World Heritage" sites.

The 1st day    Chengdu - Mianyang

Upon arriving in Chengdu, our friendly guide will meet you and your scenic drive to Mianyang will begin. On route, we will visit the Sanxingdui Museum in the city of Guanghan, located 42 km north of Chengdu. This site is recognized as one of the most important ancient remains in the world for its vast size, ancient history, and rich cultural content. The unique Sanxingdui Museum is a good place to explore the mysterious ancient Shu culture and history.

The 2nd day    Mianyang - Jiuzhaigou Valley

Drive to Jiuzhaigou. On the way, we will visit the village of Baima near Pingwu. In the evening, we shall arrive in Jiuzhaigou.

The 3rd day    Jiuzhaigou

We will spend our day exploring the three beautiful valleys located in this city. Situated in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefectures, Jiuzhaigou is listed as a World Natural Heritage site and is seemingly a fairytale land with its fantastic natural environment. Jiuzhaigou literally means “nine villages valley” in Chinese. The pure, clear, bodies of water in the area are considered the soul of this area. There’s a saying that goes, “no water is worthy of your attention after you visit Jiuzhaigou.” The water, the reflection on the banks, the stone mill, the Tibetan villages, the Buddhist streamers and the songs and dances of the Tibetan and Qiang people constitute the unique tourist culture of Jiuzhaigou. 114 green lakes, 47 springs, 17 over flying waterfall groups, 11 sections of white-water streams, 5 Karst shoals, vast primitive forest, and three Tibetan villages are distributed among the three valleys. With an area of 1,320 square km, it consists of 30,000 hectares of pristine forest where 2,576 distinct species of animals call home. The forest includes scores of state-protected animals and plants such as the giant panda, golden monkey and

The 4th day    Jiuzhaigou - Huanglong – Maoxian

In the morning, we will take a scenic drive to the World Natural Heritage Huanglong (Yellow Dragon) scenic spot located in nearby Songpan County. According to legend, Huanglong scenic spot is so named to honor the Golden Dragon of the East Sea who helped Dayu, an ancient emperor, to regulate rivers and other watercourses. The Min Mountains and forests contribute to the immaculate ecological environment, magical ambience, and pastoral customs of the minority nationalities in the area. As a national park, Huanglong has won wide acclaim. Some calling it heaven on Earth, while others see as a natural wonderland. A few features are its low-temperatures, highly calcified Karst landforms, and breathtaking ponds with vibrant colors. This last phenomenon is caused by the dense calcium content in the waters. Afterwards, we will drive to Maoxian. On the way, take in the valley landscape of the upper reaches of the Min River and enjoy a short stopover at Diexi Haizi Lake. The formation of Diexi Haizi Lake was the result of two barrier lakes coming together during a big earthquake in 1933. We will reach Maoxian County in late afternoon.

The 5th day    Maoxian --Taoping – Dujiangyan - Chengdu

Leave Maoxian for Chengdu. Upon arrival at Wenchuan County, visit Taoping Qiang People’s Stockade Village. The ancient Taoping Village has great appeal for both historical experts and tourists alike with its uniquely wonderful fortress structures. These blockhouses are over ten stories in height and were regarded as the skyscrapers of its day. Although these constructions have been around for over a thousand years, they are as steady as the day they were built. We will then visit another engineering marvel. The Dujiangyan Irrigation System, built around 250 BC by Li Bing, a governor of Shu Prefecture in the Qin State still works efficiently today after more than two thousand years of usage. This engineering project not only put an end to the water shortages of the local people, but also made the Chengdu Plain into a land of agricultural abundance. The simple design of these ancient people in harnessing the life giving river for their usage is a true testament to human ingenuity. In the afternoon, we will reach the city of Chengdu.

The 6th day    Chengdu – Beijing/Tianjin

In the morning, we will visit the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base & Museum located in the northern suburbs of Chengdu. About 43 pandas live in this semi-natural environment. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to not only come into contact with one of the rarest animals on Earth, but also to learn more about their living environment and habits. After lunch, flight back to Beijing/Tianjin.
